Fab Finds: Chicago Adventures (Part 3)
|| Monday ||
We started our day off bright and early with breakfast at the hotel and I had the most unbelievable quiche I have ever had. Matt can vouch for me, the expression on my face when I took that first bite was priceless.
After breakfast we made our way over to the show for a nice long day of raisin talk and food intake.
One of the exciting events we had planned for awhile was to catch a ballgame while in Chicago! We finally made our way to Wrigley Field to watch the Chicago Cubs versus the New York Mets! We couldn't have asked for a more perfect evening! The weather was refreshing, our seats were fantastic and we had a GREAT group!

(i.e. no zoom necessary on the camera)
Now, everyone knows when you go to a Cubs game, you gotta get a "Chicago Dog" so we made the effort of finding the right hotdog stand that sold the perfect Chicago Dog! While waiting in line and making it to about two people from the front, we look up at the menu sign and notice something written in very small print: "CASH ONLY!" DOOMED. So both Robert and I frantically check our pockets for cash, none. I send Robert off to find a nearby ATM, no luck. We had to lose our place in line. Fail.
We weren't about to give up that easily, we were on a mish! We decided to finally be methodical and ask someone where an ATM was located, get cash, use the restroom, grab a beer, wait in line, grab the dogs, then get back to our seats. We must've been gone about an hour by the time we made our rounds! Our group was about to send a search party for us, but let me tell you...these dogs were definitely worth the wait!
Whatever anybody tells you, you HAVE to make your dogs Chicago style with tomatoes, banana peppers, relish and celery salt. Oh man, it's ridiculous.
I still can't get over what a perfect evening it was for a ballgame and not to mention the Cubs won!!
After the game, we made our way to this amazing place called Sluggers that we discovered last year. Let me explain to how insanely awesome this place is. Batting cages, skee ball, arcade basketball, dueling pianos TWO bars and arcade tokens that you may or may not spend $7 on and mistake for quarters...I might be speaking from experience, maybe. Anyways, can you EVEN imagine what I'm saying!??! How cool does this place sound!? It's that cool. Times 10. Inner child released.
While waiting to head back to our side of town, our friend Matt had a visitor who decided to sketch him a little souvenir... we seriously could not stop laughing because Matt was completely offended and we couldn't contain ourselves! haha Made our night.
Our last stop for the evening was the famous Billy Goat where this SNL skit was based off of. Literally, it's exactly like that in there. First of all, this place is located under a bridge (lucky for us, about half a block from our hotel) and if you didn't know where you were going, you'd never be able to find it. I have to say, I've never experienced anything like this place, and it was a pretty cool experience. Oh, and those burgers were amazing. No lie.
Cross that off the bucket list!
Day 3 in Chicago complete! Each day keeps getting better and better with new and exciting experiences! One more full day in Chicago comin' up tomorrow!
